This resort area was developed by J. L. Francis. Located on the south shore of Lakeland's Lake Hollingsworth, somewhat east of the later Lakeland Yacht and Country Club.
From 1915 into the 1920s, Frances Beach was a popular swimming and boating spot. Weekly dances in the pavilion during the summers, and had what now would be called a snack bar.
