Portrait of Reverend James Page.
Reverend Page was a pastor from 1870 until his death in 1883. He founded Bellair Church just south of Tallahassee; the church later moved to the Junior Museum grounds.
He came to Leon County as the slave of John Parkhill of Richmond, Virginia.
He was the first pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
He died in 1883 and was buried in the Old City Cemetery.
