Launched in Key West in 1939, it is the last sailing cable ship on earth and the last example of a traditional American coasting schooner made in the U.S.
Accompanying note: "The schooner 'New Way', formerly known as the 'Western Union', shown entering the Key West Harbor in preparation for docking at the Galleon Resort at Key West, FL."
Biographical Note
In 1984 the Western Union was renamed the New Way until 1997 when the Western Union was designated the flagship of Key West.
