12 color slides. Sam Griffin was the son of a commercial fisher on Lake Okeechobee, who then moved in 1948 to sportsfishing. Sam began making lures to support his father's business. His business had 12 full-time employees, all females, and make 300,000 lures a year. In 1992, the Palm Beach Community College contracted the Florida Folklife Program to conduct ten days of fieldwork in March 1992 around Lake Okeechobee for a Lakefront Legacy Festival later that year (16 May 1992). Headed up by FFP folklorist Debbie Fant, and assisted by Robert Stone and Robert Shanafelt, the fieldwork involved 26 informants, slides, print images and recorded interviews. In the end, the FFP recommended seven people for festival participation.

Description
James Billie was twice chairman of the Seminole Tribe of Florida (1979-2001; 2011-incumbent). In the 1970s and 1980s, he led an effort to make the Seminole Tribe self-sufficient through business investments, including hotels, bingo, and gambling operations. He also initiated a cultural heritage and enrichment program designed to educate young Seminoles about the traditional language and practices of their tribe. James Billie himself is a guitarist and songwriter, whose songs often combine Native American themes with the style and instrumentation of folk music.

Robert Lannon discusses the Fernandina shrimping industry in its early days (1930s?); differences between prices for shrimp then and now; shrimp becoming more of a commercial product for export to other cities in the US such as New York and the importance of Italian (Italian-American?) shrimpers in this process; difficulties in the shrimping business during the Great Depression; his belief that Fernandina Beach was the first area where commercial shrimping took place; best times and places to catch shrimp; effects of pollution on the Fernandina shrimping industry. Capt. Van discusses the technicalities of shrimping at length, including: state laws governing nets; where one can fish; live bait fishing; different licenses needed for shrimping; bio-catch; the cost of operating a shrimping business; cost of shrimp; and other such topics. He also speaks about his own preferences in shrimping and nets, the Organized Fishermen of Florida (OFF), his personal history, and the way he operates his own shrimping business. Interviews conducted during fieldwork for video documentary on Florida shrimping called Fishing All My Days, and was made by the Florida Folklife Program, and the University of Florida (WUFT-TV). Also includes a 1987 letter from Ballew to folk advocate (and Florida Folk Heritage Award winner) Barbara Beauchamp. At the time, he was promoting his album, "Roll On Manatee." Ballew died on 30 May 1987.
