General Note
Accompanying note: "The Lake Munson Canoe (8LE5785) was exposed during a recent draw down of the lake. It is a prehistoric dugout canoe approximately 500 to 800 years old. It was made from a pine or cypress hollowed out by prehistoric inhabitants of the Fort Walton cultural period (1000 AD to 1450 AD) using fire and stone tools. Exhibiting a platform on either end, it is incredibly well preserved."
"Eric Holdos maneuvers the 23' vessel into a safe spot away from the flow of traffic at the BAR Conservation lab where the canoe will be wrapped in plastic and carefully monitored to ensure gradual drying."
