"L to R: [Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN)'s] Barbara Hines, [Florida Bureau of Archaeological Research (BAR)'s] Franklin Price, Kevin Porter and Roger Smith gently pour water over the canoe to keep it moist thus preventing splitting of the canoe."
Accompanying note: "The Lake Munson Canoe (8LE5785) was exposed during a recent draw down of the lake. It is a prehistoric dugout canoe approximately 500 to 800 years old. It was made from a pine or cypress hollowed out by prehistoric inhabitants of the Fort Walton cultural period (1000 AD to 1450 AD) using fire and stone tools. Exhibiting a platform on either end, it is incredibly well preserved."
