Established in 1932 as Florida Prison Farm #2. Inmates were sent from Florida Prison Farm #1 in Raiford ("State Prison Farm") to grow fresh vegetables for state institutions. In 1951 it was renamed Glades State Prison Farm and in 1961 it became G.C.I.
