General Note
The "Youthful Offender" facility was established in 1949 while the "Prison Labor Camp" under the Division of Mental Health was established to grow food and provide labor support for the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee. In 1959, the "Youthful Offender" facility name was changed to Apalachee Correctional Institution, East Unit when the "Prison Labor Camp" was acquired by the Florida Department of Corrections and the new property was designated as ACI, West Unit.
