General Note
Washington Oaks Garden is a state park located on A1A between the Atlantic Ocean and the Matanzas River. The property was originally owned by a distant relative of George Washington. The gardens were developed by Louise and Owen Young, who bought the property in 1936 and built their retirement home onsite. The gardens and home were donated to the Florida Park Service in 1965.
