Accompanying note: "NASA T-33 aircraft flown by astronauts in training parked at the Naval Air Station in 1967. The astronauts did weightlessness training in a tank and pool in Key West at the Naval Station for a short time in the 60's.
A Lockheed EC-121 Constellation, is in the background. These were used for hurricane tracking and were the first airborne early warning aircraft. They were also used as Air Force 1 when Eisenhower was President. After the Cuban missile crisis, these aircraft flew a racetrack course along the 24th parallel between the United States and Cuba, 24 hours a day for years to protect our airspace. The last EC-121 the Navy owned, was stationed at Key West with squadron VAQ-33 and was decommissioned in the late 70's."
