"Billy Bowlegs, born February 17, 1862, was considered one of Florida's greatest hunters and guides. He was also a spokesman for the Seminoles for many years. Because of his reputation for savvy and impeccable honesty, Billy Bowlegs was a friend of sportsmen, writers, scientists and historians. He knew Henry M. Flagler and Henry B. Plant when they were building Florida."
