- Photographed in Everglades National Park, Florida. Fall 1927.
- Not only was the vegetation destroyed, but also the humus on the rock floor. Several tall royal palms survived and single remains of epiphytes cling to them. In the foreground are fire-weeds that have grown since the fire, and it is their humus that will form the basis of the rehabilitation of the hammock.
- 1 nitrate photonegative - b&w - 5 x 7 in.
