The 917 series is composed of photographs from the period 1940-1969 that were used to illustrate articles in the Bureau of Health Education publication Florida Health Notes. This publication was the primary publication of the State Board of Health from 1892 to 1976, when it was discontinued due to state budget cuts. It was published 10 times a year, and each issue discussed a particular health topic such as alcoholism, air pollution, and cancer.
