- Senator Charley Johns listening to Senator Verle Pope - Tallahassee, Florida
- Photographed on May 6, 1963.
- Accompanying note: "Sen. Charley Johns, right, of Starke, who heads the controversial Johns Legislative Investigating Committee, is shown here on the Senate floor as he talks with Sen. Verle Pope, of St. Augustine. The committee, under pressure to discontinue its activities, has asked $155,000 to continue its probes through 1963-65. The Senate Appropriations Committee has approved the funds but the request must pass two House committees before going to the floor for a vote. The public hearing this afternoon was called to justify or discourage further state support for the committee."
