Accompanying note: "These legislators are shown in action on the floors of the Senate and the House, some pushing for higher and new taxes, others throwing roadblocks toward more revenue seeking proposals. Sen. Luther Tucker, left, of Crawfordville, thundered strong opposition and mustered enough strength to temporarily stall and effort which would allow one county (Sarasota) to tax the first one or two thousand dollars of the homeowner's $5,000 homestead tax exemption. Sen. Ed Fraser, center, of Macclenny, saw his grocery tax proposal well knocked about. Rep. William O'Neill, right, of Marion County, makes a strong plea for his $5 across-the-board tax increase for license plates for autos, trucks and trailers."
