Accompanying note: "Ernest Salley (left), Deland, an employee of the state road department, gets ready to play a tape recording he made as an undercover investigator for the Florida Legislative Investigating Committee. At right is Mark Hawes, committee counsel. The tape was of a speech made in Florida by Scott Nearing, and allegedly said that Communism would be best for the world. Salley played the tape at the committee hearing at Tallahassee Thursday. The committee condemned Carl Braden as Communist or fellow traveler."
