Owners of the Silver Springs attraction Carl Ray and W.M. "Shorty" Davidson opened Paradise Park in 1949 as a tourist attraction for African Americans only. The park was located just south of Silver Springs and stayed in operation until the late 1960s.
Crowned the winner was LaRone Taylor of Ocala (2nd from left), entered by American Legion Post 210. Second place went to Nora Hazel Sheffield of Tallahassee, with Jonquill Flowers and Shirley Ann Taylor tied for third.
