Owners of the Silver Springs attraction Carl Ray and W.M. "Shorty" Davidson opened Paradise Park in 1949 as a tourist attraction for African Americans only. The park was located just south of Silver Springs and stayed in operation until the late 1960s.
Baptisms at Paradise Park were held at sunrise services on Sunday morning before the park opened.
