On February 14, 2018 a violent, mentally unstable gunman opened fire at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School killing 17 students and staff members and injuring an additional 17 people. The following week students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas and community members from Parkland demonstrated in Tallahassee calling for gun control.
