Accompanying note: "In 1979 after the police and fire departments relocated to the new Safety Complex, City Officials expressed concern about the safety involved in demolishing the old city hall with its high tower. Mr. Singleton listened quietly during the discussion and rose early the following morning. When his supervisor arrived for the work he had completed the task of demolishing the building quietly and without fanfare."
