Horse-drawn rail cars
Accompanying note: "In 1886, visitors arriving at the station were met by a horse drawn carriage. The Altamonte Hotel tram was known as the Dixie Flyer. The horse drawn carriage ran over a narrow tramway to the hotel about half a mile away. The scenery to the hotel was full of natural beauties. Villas, groves, and truck gardens were visible amongst the bumpy way. During the winter season, the hotel trolley met all those awaiting its arrival at the ACL station. The locals welcomed the winter residents with great enthusiasm. Many enjoyed watching as the hotel trolley met the incoming trains and carried the guests to the hotel. Those inhabitants with winter homes were also welcomed to ride the trolley. It was missed when the Winterpark Herald announced it's replacement with a new cement sidewalk. The utility did provide safety by stopping the dangerous antics of the horse which pulled the carriage. The car of the tram had sometimes ran into the heels of the horse."
