General Note

  • Eastern's first DC-4 Skymaster was acquired in 1945 when the government began to release this type of transport to commercial lines. It carried a captain, co-pilot, a flight attendant, and 68 passengers. Each of its four Pratt and Whitney engines delivers 1450 horsepower at takeoff. Its cruising speed is 225, and its range is 2100 miles. It weighs 73,000 lbs at takeoff with a maximum pay-load of 12,915 lbs. Its lengthis 93 feet 11 inches, wingspan 117 feet 6 inches, and its height is 27 feet 8 inches.
