Note St. Louis American newspaper dated June 30, 1960.
Note paper reads, "Miss Patricia Stephens, left, a leader of the Florida A. and M. College sit-ins, was the speaker at the publishers banquet held Friday night in Chicago. John H. Johnson who was recently elected president of the National Newspaper Publishers Association, is at the right, William O. Walker, a past president of the organization is in the center. Miss Stephens told the newspaper publishers of her long 49-day stay in a Florida jail, but added that she is continuing her fight against segregated lunch counters."
Biographical Note
Patricia Stephens Due was an African-American civil rights leader and activist. She was an educator, public speaker, author and life-long civil rights proponent.
