Accompanying note: "Sarasota Army Air Field was leased to the Army Air Corps by the Sarasota-Manatee Joint Airport Authority in February 1942. The 97th Bombardment Group arrived at Sarasota Army Air Field in April 1942 and stayed through May. The entire base was turned back over to civilian use in 1946."
