Accompanying note: "Sarasota Army Air Field was leased to the Army Air Corps by the Sarasota-Manatee Joint Airport Authority in February 1942. The original barracks at Sarasota Army Air Field were built with tar paper on wooden frames. Concrete barracks were built later. The entire base was turned back over to civilian use in 1946."
