Born April 26, 1829 at Merriweather Station, Ala. Owned a large plantation north of Marianna. Went to Mexico for a time, got bushwhacked so returned to a farm at Myrtle Grove, outside Pensacola. Served as a Representative in the Florida House: 1860, 1861. A scholar of greek and latin, horticulturalist, husband to 5 wives and father of 22. He died on July 14, 1900.
