Accompanying note: "It is a volunteer project on the part of the inmates, who devote evenings, weekends and other spare hours to the fix-up work... The local U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Third Tank Company is assisting in the local drive, collecting new and used toys throughout the city for distribution to local needy children on Christmas Eve. More than 18,000 toys were put under Christmas trees for 2,300 local children last year as a result of the drive."
