    Biography Note

  • Born October 2, 1915 in Lake City. From North Florida, he later played with bluegrass great Bill Monroe at the Grand Old Opry and across the South and went on to play with other bluegrass musicians such as Earl Scruggs, Lester Flatts, and Clyde Moody. He and his wife moved back to Florida in 1984. Wise won the Florida Folk Heritage Award in 1989. He passed away on January 6, 1996.
