Accompanying note: "The fireworks were shot off Saturday, the bells were rung Sunday, and today the city was deserted as the Independence Day weekend took Tallahasseeans to vacation spots or kept them home for relaxation. The only sounds were a few lawn mowers - and the crash of colliding cars. This was Monroe street, looking southward from the corner of Call, at 8:30 a.m. when the street usually is filled with cars taking people to work."
