Robinson Trueblood Swimming Pool on Dade Street was built by the city in response to wade-ins by blacks at all white pools. It was the only pool where blacks could swim and train as lifeguards.
Identified, in the foreground: at left is Carol Award and at the right is Edwin Thorpe; 4th from the bottom at left is Jean Thorpe; in the middle of the picture with bathing cap is Elaine Thorpe; and background right is Linda Award.
