The program, supported by Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson, pays farmers to take land out of crop production by planting trees.
Accompanying note: "Mrs. Thelma Curry watches as Henry Brown operates the tree planter which was used in planting slash pine trees during the week on her Johnson Brach Community farmland. She is participating in the long range Conservation Reserve phase of the U.S. Department of Agriculture-sponsored Soil Bank Program."
