Pleas before the honorable Diller Jourdan Judge of the Superior Court for the District of West Florida Escambia County at a circuit begun and held on the first Monday of November in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight.

Lawrence vs. Schooner Alexander

In the Superior Court Western District of Florida

The Libel of John Lawrence showith that on or about the fifth day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven, he shipped on board a certain Schooner called the Alexander, Alexander Lamb master as the seaman at the rate and for the wages of twenty five dollars per month and that he continued to remain on board said before as said seaman, for the space of two months- yet the said Alexander Lamb nor any other person for him hath not as yet paid this Libellant any part of his said wages but refuse to pay the same. This Libellant would further represent that he loaned and placed in the hands of the said Alexander masters as aforesaid for safe keeping the sum of forty dollars in money which the said Alexander now refuses to return. Wherefore your Libellant [?] a order of seizure of said Schooner and that your Honor- [?] as a count of admiralty will at the [?] of this marker make such
