  • The City Gates, property of the National Park Service, were built of coquina in 1807: the barrier having originally been of wood in 1743.
  • Accompanying handwritten note on back: "Gates of St. Augustine. H. Nehrling's Ford is seen at the extreme right of the gates, in the road. [?] X ray is used the Nehrling family including Mr. [?] can be seen drinking a St. Augustine beverage known as [beer?]."
