Biographical Note
Accompanying note: "Married Elizabeth Scott 9/14/51. Enlisted Sept. 11, 1861 in Stone Brigade, 5th Va. Infantry. Was a Medical Inspector. Present at the battle of Chancellorsville, Spottsylvania Courthouse and the Wilderness. During the late part of the war he was in charge of the hospital at Lynchburg, VA and then made medical inspector for the District of Florida. After being paroled, May 13, 1865 at Tallahassee, by Capt. S.W. Burns, USA; he was sent to NY on a transport and set free. Tallahassee General Hospital Nov. 10, 1864-May 13, 1865. Returned to Virginia."
