On December 27th, 1965, 4,500 spectators and swimmers from all fifty states and eleven foreign countries participated in and witnessed the dedication of the Swimming Hall of Fame complex and an international swimming meet organized by the Swimming Hall of Fame. The organization's Articles of Incorporation were amended to reflect that the name was changed to "International Swimming Hall of Fame" on June 16, 1969.
