Lindsay M. Harrington was born on November 12, 1944 in Charlottesville, Virginia and has resided in Punta Gorda for the past 23 years. Representative Harrington earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and later received a Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Management from Pepperdine University. He served in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves for 12 years attaining the rank of Master Sergeant.
Mr. Harrington was elected to the city council in 1988, and served as a councilman until 1996. He served as Vice Mayor from 1991-1994 and was elected Mayor in 1995. He was elected to the House in 1996 to serve as State Representative for District 72 and was subsequently reelected. A real estate agent, he is married to Deborah Lynn. They have 4 children named: Loren, Lisa, Brian and Chris.
Seated to the right of Mr. Harrington is House Speaker Johnnie Byrd.
