This image taken during the 1972 Republican National Convention.
Born on 7/4/1946 Ron Kovic was paralyzed in 1968 while serving his country in the Vietnam War. He is best known as the author of the memoir "Born on the Fourth of July", which was made into an Academy Award-winning movie directed by Oliver Stone, with actor Tom Cruise playing Kovic.
