Biographical Note
Peek, a teacher, held various posts in the Confederate Army. He enlisted on March 26, 1862 at Madison, Florida and resigned on September 2. He later enlisted on February 18, 1863 as Captain of Company G of the 11th Florida Infantry at Madison, resigning on November 1863. He then enlisted on November 9, 1863 with Company F of the 5th Florida Cavalry at Camp Ward, but was exchanged to Company D, 1st Florida Reserves, on September 1, 1864. He appears as 2nd Lieutenant in early 1865, and was paroled by Union forces on May 14, 1865 at Madison.
