General Note
Note from sleeve: Born in Fort Myers March 14, 1942. Graduated from Venice High School. Enlisted in US Navy 1961. Completed flight training at Pensacola 1964. A pilot and aircraft commander of a search and rescue helicopter attached to Helicopter Support Squadron 7 during operations against North Vietnam. Through enemy fire, he repeatedly attempted to rescue the crew of a downed aircraft. Finally successful, he returned to the USS Jouett with only 5 minutes of fuel remaining. Retired from the Navy as a Commander in 1981. Died of cancer April 1, 1994. Buried at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola.
