First registered in Jacksonville, the Crescent was built in 1893 by the Merrill Stevens Engineering Company. It was propelled by a screw, and had a gross tonnage of 84, and a net tonnage of 42. It was 100' long, 20.1' wide, and a depth of 9.4'. It had a steel hull, and was later lenthened to 120'.
