The Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. Veterans' Domiciliary Home, located in Lake City and opened in 1990, was named for him.
Born June 1, 1948 in Interlachen. Graduated from Central Academy, Palatka in 1967. Completed Marine Corps training May 1968. Assign to the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion in Vietnam. Died on March 5, 1969 of wounds received from shielding a comrade from an enemy grenade. Recipient of the Medal of Honor.
