General Note

  • Born on March 13, 1892 in Chuluota, Florida. Married to Viola Browning Jacobs. He was shot and killed on September 14, 1922 when he tried to enter a house to question a man (Percy Baylis) about the theft of another man's pants. The name of Cleveland V. (instead of James Cleveland) is incorrectly inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. (West Wall, Panel 10, Line 15).
