General Note

  • Sergeant James Barnard Cone and Captain William Haddock Cone were the second and fourth sons of Captain William Henry Cone, II, and Sarah Haddock Cone. Barnard, William. A third brother, Charles, served in the 3rd Seminole War of November 1857. Barnard, a sergeant, William, a captain, along with brothers Lieutenant Simon Peter and Captain Charles Floyd served in the 2nd Florida Cavalry and fought in the Battle of Olustee. William Haddock Cone was the father of Florida Governor Frederick P. Cone. William was born on July 15, 1825 and James Barnard was born on November 21, 1829.
