Jacob Summerlin is the man standing beneath the right leg of the tripod. Not the man with the moustache.
Jacob Summerlin gave 40 acres of land to the city of Bartow. A portion of this land was sold. The money gained from the sale of this land, combined with money given by the citizens of Bartow, was used to start the Summerlin Institute.
Cornerstone is suspended by a chain from a tripod in center of photograph.
