Apprentice Tico Rubio is behind Hollenback.
Hollenback began learning wheelwrighting, blacksmithing, and horseshoeing in his father's blacksmith shop when he was fifteen and has practiced the trades for over fifty years.
Rubio, of Barberville, is a full-time blacksmith. He is learning to make and repair wagon wheels.
The tire is heated in an open fire and fitted onto the wooden wheel, where it shrinks to a tight fit as it cools.
