From 1963 to 1992, photographer Donn Dughi worked for a number of media outlets in Tallahassee, including WCTV, the United Press International (UPI), and the Associated Press. From 1992 until his retirement in 2001, Dughi was a photographer for the Florida House of Representatives.

Larry Hawkins was wounded and crippled in the Vietnam war during the Tet offensive. He served with the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1968 earning the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with V. Presidential Unit Citation and Vietnamese Service Medal. Representative Hawkins was the Governor's Representative for the State of Florida during the National Salute to Viet Nam Veterans in Washington, D.C., 1982.
