Series of newsletters published by Lawton Chiles' 1970 campaign for U.S. Senate during Chiles' walk across Florida. The reports describe the route Chiles took, as well as the people he met and the topics they discussed. Other politicians, representing local and state governments, joined Chiles at various points, including state senators Dempsey Barron and Wilbur Boyd, and State Superintendent of Instruction Thomas D. Bailey. Chiles walked all the way from Century in Escambia County to Key Largo, stopping in Tallahassee for the legislative session. Chiles was a state senator representing the Lakeland region at this time.

Description
Ledger containing a record of permits issued to private individuals to cut timber on state lands in Florida. For each numbered permit, the ledger lists the name of the permit holder, his county of residence, the kind of timber to be cut, where it could be cut from, and where it was to be delivered after cutting. This ledger documents an important source of income for Floridians in the late 19th century. Many of the permit holders were farmers who cut timber for additional cash.

Description
Joint Resolution by the General Assembly of Alabama authorizing Governor William Hugh Smith to negotiate with the state government of Florida for the annexation of West Florida to Alabama - more specifically that part of Florida lying west of the Choctawhatchee River. This would include the territory in present-day Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties. Commissioners from the two states did actually meet in 1869 to discuss the transfer, and a referendum was held to determine the interest of the people, but the transaction never took place. The document features a gold seal and certification from Alabama's Secretary of State, Charles A. Miller.
