The cruise was sponsored by the Florida Department of Aviation and invited private fliers and their guests to fly from Orlando-Lakeland to Ocala with stops along at different landing fields. Fliers were to receive special rates at each stop. Interested parties were asked to complete the attached "Cruise Card" to participate.

- A letter from Marjorie Harris Carr, co-chairman for conservation at the Alachua Audubon Society, to W. Randolph Hodges, director of the State Board of Conservation, requesting a public hearing be called regarding the realignment of a section of the Cross Florida Barge Canal from Silver Springs to the St. Johns River. Additional documentation includes "A Summary of the Pertinent Factors in the Campaign by Conservationists to Preserve the Ocklawaha River Wilderness Area" from the Alachua Audubon Society; a news release from the Alachua Audubon Society regarding the efforts by conservation organizations to realign the route of the Cross Florida Barge Canal between Silver Springs and the St. Johns River, and the text of a letter sent to Lady Bird Johnson, first lady of the United States, about saving the Ocklawaha and Suwannee rivers in Florida; and Lady Bird Johnson's response to the Alachua Audubon Society's letter thanking the organization for their letter and saying she will not be able to visit the rivers because she is focusing on President Lyndon Johnson's health and recovery.
