This film gives a detailed overview of south Florida's sugarcane industry as a celebration of the "good country life" of the farmer. It was shot entirely in the Lake Okeechobee area. The film details sugarcane production in all of its phases: from planting, field burning, harvesting and milling, to loading the refined sugar into barges for shipment. It also covers the Spanish introduction of the cane plant into Florida in the 1500s, South Florida's early sugarcane industry, and the great hurricane of 1928.
