Two color prints. McCormick, a Creek Indian from a sharecropper family in Alabama and Georgia, played country and Hawaiian music in the 1930s. He gave famed country star Hank Williams his first job, and they remained lifelong friends. He also invented and patented the four-necked steel guitar. (Steel guitars at the time were also called Hawaiian guitars.) He won the 1994 Florida Folk Heritage Award.

Description
Seven color slides. The Florida Folk Arts Survey was conducted in 1987 by folklorists Tina Bucuvalis, Steve Fragos, Merri Belland, and Barbara Seitz as preliminary research for a joint folk art between the Florida Folklife Program and the Florida Museum of History. The field researchers focused on those areas previously overlooked by FFP staff. The research focused on identifying folk artists and locating appropriate exhibit objects.
